That is how you can tell what type of soul is in the gem. I think if you kill a lesser opponent and you only have a grand soul gem the function on the soul trap spell will remove the empty grand soul gem and replace it with a grand filled with lesser soul gem. Did you see all of the different ones filled with different souls? Like grand filled with lessor. You said you looked at the soul gems in the Kit. Hopefully, this isn't the case, as it's not like I can determine the level of the soul within the soul gem. It might just be determining the size of the soul from the level of the trapped creature, which is used to determine the size of the soul (eg creatures level 38 and above have grand souls, etc.). The closest I've gotten is the game-setting string "sSoulLevel", which receives the size of the soul from somewhere.

I can't find any housekeeping quest script, etc. Somehow, capturing a soul yourself links the soul to an unfilled soul gem of sufficient size, but for the life of me I can't work out how it's done. This means that the size of the soul contained within the unfilled soul gem isn't recorded using separate forms, which was my initial guess. These filled equivalents don't have any variations, as they only contain a soul the same size as the gem. The filled equivalents can only be looted or purchased from vendors, where filling your own soul gem doesn't give you a filled equivalent. Looking in the CK, there's a form for each gem size and their filled equivalent. I'm struggling to even find how the game records the size of the soul that a soul gem contains. I've run into a brick wall, as the only ways that I've found to accomplish this is through using SKSE functions, which we obviously don't have access to in SSE. So next time just dump all your Grand or Greater Soul Gems on the floor or ground & then when you pick them up again they are EMPTY.I'm needing to determine the size of a soul within a soul gem. Or Drop a Grand Soul Gem with a Common, Petty or Lesser & you will pick it up empty & so forth. Update 2: This glitch will work with any Soul Gem that has a soul less that the Gem holding it, for example: If you have a Common Soul Gem with a Petty or Lesser soul in it you can drop it & pick it up empty. UPDATE 1: This also works with Common Soul Gems that have Petty or Lesser souls in them as well. When I picked them up 5 min later they were all empty. I dumped all my Grand & Greater Gems on the floor that had either Lesser or Petty souls in them as I was overweight & needed to move faster than a slow walk, like I had about 50 of them. Well then here is a little Glitch for you.

Ur do you dump them to make room when you are overweight, like I just did. What do you do with your Grand or Greater Soul Gems filled with Petty or Lesser Souls ?ĭo you just sell them ?, After all they aren't much good for weapon enhancements so most people just sell them.
